NOTE: if you downloaded the zip before Tuesday night, you should download it again -- there were problems :)

Welcome to the 2008 edition of the Solstice With Egg mix. This has been a tradition of mine, more-or-less continually, since 1994.

The hand-written liner notes for the second year (when I was 23) say: "Well, for the 2nd year I'm sending out a Christmas mix. I love you all & would send you all cadillacs if I had lots of $. But I don't." That sentiment remains pretty much intact, although I'm less desperately poor than I was in 1995.

Music is my greatest joy. It comforts me when I feel alone; it makes me happy when I'm sad; it provides the constant soundtrack to the adventure of my life. Sharing it is nearly as wonderful. This year's been a good year for music. After a year when I stopped DJing because finding new music started feeling like a chore instead of a pleasure, I've finally returned to the pure thrill of discovery. I'm very grateful for Pandora, and if you like what you hear on this mix, you can hear more like it on my most-tweaked Pandora station. You can also, should you so desire, keep track of what I listen to via the scrobbly miracle that is last.fm. In fact, I've put together motion graphs of my listening history by writing code based on last.fm's downloadable information.

In any case, I'm pleased and proud to present this year's mix. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope that you'll talk to me about what you liked and what you didn't. The simplest thing, by far, is to download the zip file, which you can then double-click to get a complete set of songs and the front and back covers. If you'd prefer a physical CD, I'm happy to oblige; I'll be carrying them around for the next month or so.

To all of my friends: happy Solstice; happy Holidays. I love you all and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to share the music that moves me. Here's the track list:
